Finding a title for this interview was hard because we talked about so many things. Do you want to learn more about training, stretching and Anna’s fit life? Then read on!
Can you tell us something more about yourself?
I love to travel, it brings me so much joy. I am 22 years old. I like studying psychology but I am not a student anymore. I am personal coach.
You’re sponsored by Bang Energy. Why are you so passionate about the brand?
I love how they change people’s lives e.g. they helped a woman to make dancing her career. I’ve seen them before they started showing up in local areas.
Do you have other sponsors too?
I’ve been with a skincare and clothing company. I wanted to start my own clothing company in the future so that’s why I stopped working with the clothing company.
Do you already have any plans for your own company?
I want to create leggings for women that are fashionable and comfy. I feel like there are not enough prints on leggings. It’s all black and grey. I am an artist so it would be cool to design my own leggings. That is the ultimate goal. I’m not sure yet how to get my art on the leggings but I already started designing some things. However, I want to focus on my personal coaching business at the moment.
How did you get sponsored?
I was scrolling through Instagram. The CEO of Bang Energy had an advertisement to apply to be an affiliate. They wanted you to record a video to tell them why you wanted to be an affiliate. That was out of my comfort zone but I did it.
How long have you been sponsored by Bang Energy now?
You also did an expo as a sponsored athlete. How were you able to do that?
It was with the clothing company and they asked me to come. All the athletes and models were coming. It was the first time I met the team in real life. They didn’t live that close to me.
When did you become a personal trainer?
2,5 years ago. Someone asked me to be her personal trainer but at the time, I wasn’t certified and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to become a personal trainer. Then I saw how much impact I had on people so I decided to do it. I got a NASM certification.
Why did you eventually decide to become a personal trainer?
It’s a huge responsibility. You’re teaching your clients how to build muscle and there is so much at stake. You don’t know if they have injuries. Over time, I learned how I could help people.
Are you afraid of the competition?
No. I have my own corner. I build relationships with my followers. I respond to every message and comment. I have a purpose.
What is the difference between static and dynamic stretching?
Static stretching is holding a muscle for a period of time. For dynamic stretching, you are in motion e.g. if you are prepping for a squat, you can do the squat motion without any weight to warm up your hip flexors and to get the body prepped for that motion. Static stretching is holding it and it relaxes the body. Dynamic stretching is more for warming up your body. I would recommend doing dynamic stretching before your workout and static stretching after your workout to cool down.
Why do you think it’s important to build muscle?
Muscles burn fat in a sedentary state. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn while resting. You also burn more calories during your workouts. You can make your body a calorie burning machine.
Do you think glute activation exercises are necessary?
Yes. Some people find it hard to feel the muscles during their workout. You can use glute activation to feel that mind-muscle connection more. It is also a great way to warm up your body next to dynamic stretching. One of my clients was never sore, she never had a burn… but with activation we were able to make her feel it.
You are super spontaneous. Do you have any tips to become more spontaneous?
Don’t take yourself too seriously. Get creative and let your creativity shine.
What are your best tips for students to find a good balance between studying, free time and health?
Time management. I still struggle with that. I would group your day by hours and follow your schedule. Plan your workouts and study time.
